Storm 97A Provincial Report

Storm 97A, a first year Pee Wee team earns a 7th place finish out of 18 teams at the Provincial Championship tournament held in Victoria at View Royal Park.

The team faced the Victoria Devils 96 in their first round robin game and surprised the Devils by coming back to beat them 6-5. A great start to their tournament and strong pitching by Michael Moore and catching by Stephie Renkers. Next up was the Richmond Islanders 97. Storm earned a couple runs for the first two innings and added another run in the 5th. With their strong defensive play, they held the Islanders to only one run to be up 5-1. In the 6th inning, Storm charged forward earning another 4 runs (including an in the park home run for the short shop, Raelyn Radovich) for a convincing 9-2 win and to finish their first day of the tournament with a perfect record. Daniella Vilio (LF), Shaelyn Ogilvie (3B), Janey Thomas (2B), Danielle Martyniuk, and Téa Graf were all offensive threats in the game. Storm finished their first day in the winners circle.

The Midget A Storm 93 team handed the White Rock Renegades 91 their only loss in the tournament, but lost to them in the final game while the Squirt B Storm 98 team earned second place in Cloverdale. See picture of Andrea Hunter laying down a tag at home plate in the Surrey Leader. Congratulations to both Storm teams and all the players who competed at provincials this year.
