Quick recap of our first tournament of the season

Storm 05A finally took to the field Saturday afternoon against Pride 05A (W 3-1) in the White Rock Ice Breaker after a rainy Saturday morning dampened their hopes of an early morning game against Fury 06A.  There was lots of anticipation to see how all their hard work and off season training would show up during game time. They did not disappoint as they had a chance to show off their strong hitting, pitching and fielding skills against a big hitting Pride 05A team. On defense we saw a beautiful double play, strikes thrown with a full count when we needed them most, and getting the out on the dropped third strike. On offense we were swinging strong, and smart base running saw the girls sliding into muddy bases – looks like they wanted to get their new uniforms worn in – but it was worth it and got us the win.

Sunday started with an early morning match up with the hosting Renegades 05A (W 6-2). Storm woke up the crowd with their bats, pitching and defense. Next the Heat 05A (L 2-4) proved to be too hot for the Storm.  These two games gave our outfielders a chance to show off their skills too, as they saw a lot of action out there. Overall, we saw lots of great fielding, pitching and batting with these match ups.

Finally, the Storm met the younger group of Renegades 06 (W11-9) and this match up gave us an opportunity to play some new positions, and continue to get a feel for game day vs. practice.

This Ice Breaker tournament was a great way to meet our competition for the upcoming ball season. We saw strikeouts, home runs, caught foul balls, strong base running and smart fielding decisions during game time.  Storm 05A is on its way to a strong start to the season!
