The  young ladies of Storm 2003A capped off a successful 2017 season with a win in the biggest game of their lives in Brampton Ontario this weekend to claim the championship after five hard fought playoff games & six round robin games spanning over five days.

Storm seeded in the top spot after the 6 game, 19 team round robin was complete with a 5 & 1 record including four shut outs having given up just three runs in their six round robin games .  Storm had wins over Durham Lady Mets (ON7,  13-0), Palmerston Marlins (ON8, 3-2), Lasalle Athletics (ON2, 5-0), Winnipeg Lightning (MB3, 6-0) in very BC like weather no less, Quebec Rebelles (QC1, 3-0) and a loss in their final round robin game to Mississauga North Tigers (ON4, 0-1).

The playoffs saw the girls up against the fourth seeded host team, Brampton Blazers Gold & the girls opened up a three run lead in the 5th, but fell behind in the top of 7 and were unable to come back with their last bats losing 5-7.  The loss put the girls into the back door with every game ahead a must-win, and they delivered.  Their next game was against the Halton Hawks (ON3, 5-3).  The Sunday saw them up against Richmond Hill Ravens (ON1, 5-3) which had knocked out both BC1 Fraser Valley Fusion and SK2 Phantoms, and guaranteed themselves at least a Bronze Medal finish, followed immediately by a rematch with the Host Brampton Blazers.  The girls did not falter this time delivering a solid 5-2 win & securing themselves a berth in the final where the Smitty's Terminators (MB1) were waiting.

In their third back to back game of the day the girls came out  with stellar defence and just enough bats to get the winning run across the plate in the  fourth inning on their way to the 1-0 win in the final.

The team showed character, heart and tenacity in an all around team effort that saw every player make key contributions during their 11 game tournament.

Two Storm players were selected for individual awards by Softball Canada - Jordyn Miskiw, top batter in round robin & Grace Elliott, Championship round MVP.

Storm wishes to extend our thanks to the Host Committee & their tireless volunteers for all the work they did to put on a great tournament.

Tryouts for Storm's National and Western Canadian Championship winning 03 teams are September 6 & 8, 8-10pm at CAP 1.
